Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, acting on the information of SOG Jammu, Lakhanpur Police achieved a major success by recovering a massive quantity of Poppy straw and arresting the accused persons on spot.

Sleuths of Police Station Lakhanpur headed by SHO Lakhanpur recovered  500 Kilograms of  Poppy Straw which was being illegally smuggled in a truck bearing numberJK22B-1273 under the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur of district Kathua this evening.

     The accused who were smuggling the contraband drugs in the truck have been identified as Showkat Ahmed Dar S/O Ghulam Mohd. Dar,  Mohd. Imran khan S/O Mohd. Ismail khan Shahid Nazir S/O Nazir Ahmed Bhat all residents of Tulran Tehsil Imam Sahib Distt. Shopian

      Reports revealed that, on a tip off special naka was laid by Police Party of PS lakhanpur at Dhanote and checking / frisking was intensified. During the process of checking, one truck bearing number was put to thorough checking. During search of the truck  500 kilograms of Poppy Straw which was concealed in bags inside the truck was recovered.

In this regard a Case FIR No. 64 /2019 US 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Lakhanpur.

 The whole exercise was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sh. Sandeep Mehta- JKPS and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Kathua  Sh. Sh. Shridhar Patil -IPS.
